An ecological oasis sprinkled over a vast area, miles of ocean, just 50 miles off the coast of Florida. But now the main concern here is, what documents you’d be needing to visit the Bahamas. We’re sure that this must be the last thing to think about when planning a trip to this tropical paradise.
Passport requirements
The Bahamas requires tourists from the U.S. to show proof of citizenship as well as photo identification. On the other hand, a birth certificate is sufficient to enter the Bahamas via cruise. If you return to the U.S. by sea, you may use a passport card instead. Passport cards are smaller and less expensive than passport books but are not valid if you’re travelling by air. Citizens from other countries are required to present a valid passport as well as a visa as per requirement.
Tourist Visa
If you’re a U.S. citizen, you won’t be needing visas for travelling to the Bahamas, provided the stay is less than three months. Citizens of other nations must cross-check with the Bahamian Embassy much ahead of travelling.
While you do not need a passport to go to the Bahamas, you do need one for re-entering into the United States. So, basically, you need either a passport card or passport book to travel to the Bahamas.
Non-U.S. Citizens (Canadian Citizens)
Canadians must present a passport to visit the Bahamas, which must be valid for at least three months. Permanent residents of Canada must travel with their Permanent Resident Card and a valid passport from their country of origin.
Visa Requirements
Tourist Visa: Not required
Business Visa: Not required

Other countries
In order to enter the Bahamas, citizens from countries other than the U.S. and Canada are required to present a valid passport and some countries are also required to have a Bahamas visa.
